Iroquois School District prides itself on our Family culture. Participants in our athletic program are largely responsible for the maintenance and growth of this culture within our school. Iroquois Schools have a long history of providing quality visual arts and music education for all students. Our goal is for students to find joy, inspiration, intellectual stimulation, and meaning when they participate in the arts.

New Student Information - Woodwind & Brass

All Iroquois High School Woodwind and Brass students need to have their own copy of "Rubank Advanced Method, Vol. 1" for our weekly lesson program. This book can be purchased at local music stores (Twin Village Music, Music & Arts, etc.), and is also very easily found on Amazon. Below are direct links for each instrument. If the link doesn't work for you, a search for "Rubank Advanced Method Vol. 1" for whichever instrument you are looking for will get you right there.

In addition, instruments must be maintained in good working order, with an approved mouthpiece and approved reeds for woodwind instruments. Vandoren is my recommendation for reeds, but other brands such as LaVoz or Mitchell Lurie are also acceptable. Please avoid purchasing Rico reeds for any use. A good quality tuner and metronome are also highly recommended. There are numerous free tuner and/or metronome apps that work well and can be used on most electronic devices.
