Participation In Government

 

A half year course which tries to emphasize the imporatnce of our students learning about the importance of participating in the process of government.  The course stresses the impotance of understanding how government works at the local, state, and federal level. Students will read articles on current issues facing our government as well as exploring "who" represents our area at all levels.

 

An overview of how our federal government works through the three branches of government.  The students will explore  the Legislative Branch and what role it plays in our overall federal scheme.  The students will look at qualifications as well as requirements for the job as both Senator and House memeber.  The students will study the law making process as well as how one works with his and her constituents.  The students will contact their member of Congress through letter writing on a topic of their choosing.
