“History cannot give us a program for the future, but it can give us a fuller understanding of ourselves, and of our common humanity, so that we can better face the future.”
-Robert Penn Warren
Overview:
The tenth grade Global Studies course is a chronological approach to World History. You are required to pass the NYS Global Studies Regents exam that covers the time period of ~1750-present. We will begin with a review of the Exploration and the Scientific Revolution and will conclude with the modern era.
Expectations:
- Recall information from 9th grade.
- Participate in discussions and activities; a large portion of your grade is based on it.
- Homework is to be placed in the basket on the front table as you walk into class. Assignments are due the next class unless directed otherwise.
- If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up anything you missed. Homework will be due when you return to school and tests need to be made up within 3 days of your return to school.
- Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated. Failure on the assignment and further consequences are to be expected.
- In the event that I am absent for your class you are to be 100% cooperative for the substitute. Consequences will be administered for those who do not cooperate.
- Keep all assignments that are handed back to you. In the unlikely case of a grade discrepancy you will need them to prove your case.
Other Information:
I will post my homework assignments, PowerPoints, and other points of interest on the Iroquois site. You may email me if you have any questions. I check my email every weeknight and every Sunday. Inform me if you are having difficulty with an assignment or if something impedes your ability to complete the assignment.
